On or about Friday, August 13th, 2021, around 8:45 at night, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian left a 43-year-old woman dead. Local law enforcement representatives said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 40 near the exchange with 28th Street in Nashville, Tennessee.
Investigators from the area said an as-of-yet unidentified 43-year-old woman was killed when she was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles as she was walking along or trying to cross the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40. Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead of her injuries a short time after the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries in their preliminary statement on the incident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 40 cuts east and west through the heart of Nashville, with the scene of the accident a short distance from the 28th Avenue exit.
Police are still working to determine all the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
