On or about Wednesday, June 16th, 2021, around 7:30 in the evening, an accident between two cars and a tractor-trailer left one person dead. Troopers from the TSP said the accident was reported across the east and westbound lanes of Interstate 40 near the Strawberry Plains Pike in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Investigators said one as-of-yet unidentified person was injured when a tractor-trailer and two cars collided in a chain-reaction accident. Police said the accident may have started when the two cars collided, causing one of them to spin into the path of the tractor-trailer. Paramedics pronounced one of the car’s occupants dead at the scene of the collision, while two others were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, the exchange of I-40 and the Strawberry Plains Pike is situated on the east side of Knoxville.
Police hope to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
