Details:
On or about Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, around 6:40 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer left one person dead. Troopers from the WSP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Interstate 5 near the main gate for Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Lakewood, Washington.
Authorities from the Washington State Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the pickup truck they were driving allegedly veered out of the southbound lanes of I-5 and struck a tractor-trailer that was stopped on the shoulder. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the pickup truck dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 5 cuts north and south through Lakewood, which is about 40 miles south of downtown Seattle.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene of the incident.
