On or about Saturday, June 5th, 2021, around 3:00 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and an 18-wheeler left one person dead. Officials said the accident was reported at a rest stop situated on Interstate 64 in Woodford County, Kentucky.
Authorities said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly veered off the side of Interstate 64 and slammed into a parked 18-wheeler a short distance off the pavement. After the initial collision, one of the trucks erupted into flames. Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead of their injuries a short time after they responded to the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 64 runs east and west across the northern edge of Woodford County, which is just west of downtown Lexington.
Police expect to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
