On or about Tuesday, July 20th, 2021, around 6:30 in the morning, an accident between a car, an SUV, and a tractor-trailer left one person dead. Troopers from the SCHP said the accident was reported along the southbound lanes of Interstate 77 in Richland County, South Carolina.

Police officers said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when their car allegedly spun out following a collision with an SUV. After the car spun, a tractor-trailer struck it in the roadway. Paramedics cut one person from the car and rushed them to nearby Prisma Richland Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries a short time after their arrival. Officials did not mention any other injuries stemming from the incident in their preliminary report.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 77 runs north and south through Richland County, which is situated on the north side of Columbia.

State and local law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene of the accident.
