Details:
On or about Wednesday, July 7th, 2021, around 1:30 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian claimed the life of a road worker. Officials said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 77 in York County, South Carolina.
Troopers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when they were allegedly hit by a northbound tractor-trailer as they were picking up trash on Interstate 77. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead of their injuries a short time after the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 77 runs north and south through the eastern side of York County, which is a short distance southwest of downtown Charlotte.
Police are still investigating the accident.
