On or about Sunday, November 1st, 2020, around 4:46 in the morning, an accident between an SUV and a parked tractor-trailer claimed the life of one person. State Troopers said the accident happened in the westbound shoulder of Interstate 78 in Clinton Township, New Jersey.
Officers said an as-of-yet unidentified driver was killed when the Jeep they were driving allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the right shoulder of the roadway. First responders pronounced the driver of the driver of the Jeep dead at the scene of the incident. No other injuries were reported.
Google Streetview shows Interstate 78 as six lanes wide, with a barrier and grassy median dividing east and westbound lanes of traffic. Clinton is situated about 42 miles west of Newark.
New Jersey State Police are assisting local law enforcement with the investigation.
