Details:
On or about Friday, June 4th, 2021, an accident between a tractor-trailer and an 18-wheeler left a 61-year-old man dead. Police from the area said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 80 in Grundy County, Illinois.
Troopers from the ISP said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck the back of another 18-wheeler. Paramedics rushed the driver of the 18-wheeler to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Authorities cited the driver of the tractor-trailer with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Following Too Closely in connection with the crash.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 80 runs east and west through Grundy County, which is about 63 miles southwest of downtown Chicago.
Police are still examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
