On or about Thursday, January 13th, 2022, around 12:40 in the morning, a serious accident between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle left one individual dead. Officials from the WVHP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 81 in Berkeley County, West Virginia.
Investigators said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the vehicle they were in allegedly slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked on or near the lanes of traffic. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the vehicle dead of their injuries a short time after the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 81 cuts north and south through Berkeley County, which is about 87 miles northwest of downtown Washington DC.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
