Details:
On or about Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, around 12:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer left one individual dead. Deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 94 near the exchange with Route 60 in Lake Forest, Illinois.
Troopers from the Illinois State Police said one as-of-yet unidentified pedestrian was killed when they were allegedly hit by a passing tractor-trailer as they were walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of Interstate 94. Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead of their injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their preliminary statement on the incident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 94 cuts along the eastern edge of Lake Forest, which is about 33 miles south of downtown Chicago.
