On or about Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021, around 1:30 in the morning, a major single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident left one individual dead. Officials from the SCHP said the accident was reported on Interstate 95 in Hampton County, near the Colleton County line in South Carolina.

Law enforcement representatives said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when the tractor-trailer they were driving allegedly veered off the side of I-95 and crashed into a wooded patch a short distance off the pavement near the Combahee River Bridge. Paramedics pronounced the tractor-trailer driver dead a short time after they arrived at the scene of the incident. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their preliminary report.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 95 runs north and south through the eastern corner of Hampton County, which is about 81 miles west of Charleston.
