On or about Tuesday, February 8th, 2022, around 11:00 at night, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian left one man dead. Authorities from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along State Highway 285 just outside Riviera in Kleberg County, Texas.
Spokespeople from the DPS said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when he was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of State Highway 285. Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead of his injuries a short time after he was hit. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their statement on the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Riviera, which is roughly 172 miles south of downtown San Antonio.
