On or about Wednesday, April 7th, 2021, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident claimed the life of a 52-year-old man from Atmore, Alabama. Troopers from the FHP said the accident was reported at a rock mine or quarry on Vermont Road in Jackson County, Florida.

Authorities said an as-of-0yet unidentified 52-year-old man from Atmore, Alabama was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly lost control and crashed into a building. Police did not clarify if the victim died at the scene or after being rushed to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported by police in their initial statement.

According to Google Maps, Jackson County is about 61 miles northwest of Tallahassee.

Police hope to release the findings of their investigation as soon as they become available.
