Details:
On or about Tuesday, July 20th, 2021, around 12:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian left one woman dead. Investigators said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Route 1 in South Brunswick, New Jersey.
Troopers from the New Jersey State Police said one as-of-yet unidentified woman was killed when she was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer as she was walking along or attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Route 1. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead of her injuries a short time after the accident, but it is not clear if she died at the scene or after being taken to the hospital.
According to Google Maps, Route 1 runs north and south through the center of South Brunswick, which is about 37 miles south of Newark.
State and local law enforcement are investigating the accident.
