Details:
On or about Thursday, January 14th, 2021, around 12:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a car and an 18-wheeler left a 59-year-old woman dead. Police said the accident was reported at the intersection of Route 24 and Route 67 just outside Rushville, Illinois.
Authorities from the area said a tractor-trailer that was southbound on Route 67 when it allegedly struck a passenger vehicle that was eastbound on Route 24. One woman in the car was pronounced dead of her injuries at the scene of the accident. Investigators have not indicated which vehicle may have failed to yield at the intersection.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Route 24 and Route 67 is governed by a stoplight. Rushville is located about 57 miles northwest of Springfield.
Illinois State Police are investigating the accident.
