On or about Monday, October 4th, 2021, around 11:00 at night, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer left a 44-year-old woman from Hammond dead. Troopers from the ISP said the accident was reported at or near the intersection of River Oaks Drive and Wentworth Avenue in Calumet City, Illinois.
Local law enforcement officials said an as-of-yet unidentified 44-year-old woman was killed when her car and a tractor-trailer collided under unspecified circumstances while driving at or near the intersection of Wentworth Avenue and River Oaks Drive. Paramedics pronounced the female passenger in the car dead at the scene, while the driver of the car was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, Calumet City is about 23 miles south of downtown Chicago.
Police are still working to pin down the cause of the accident.
