Details:
On or about Thursday, February 17th, 2022, sometime in the early morning hours, a hit-and-run accident between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer left one person dead. Law enforcement personnel said the accident was reported along Highway 1 near the exchange with Peachtree Street in Cocoa, Florida.
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when they were allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer as they were walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of Highway 1. After the initial accident, the tractor-trailer fled the scene. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead a short time after they responded to the incident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 45 miles east of downtown Orlando.
Police are still trying to track down the truck and driver who fled the scene.
