Details:
On or about Tuesday, February 8th, 2022, around 4:20 in the morning, a serious accident with a tractor-trailer left two individuals dead. Troopers from the VSP said the accident was reported along the Interstate 81 service road in Botetourt County, Virginia.
Law enforcement officials said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the vehicle they were in allegedly slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer that may have been illegally parked on the side of the I-81 service road. One person in the car died of their injuries at the scene, while two other people were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 81 winds north and south through Botetourt County.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the accident.
