One Killed, Child Injured in Car Hauler Truck Accident on Interstate 17 in Anthem

On or about Monday, August 30th, 2021, around 3:30 in the morning, an accident with a pickup truck towing a car hauler left one person dead and sent a young child to the hospital. Officials from the ASP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 17 in Anthem, Arizona.

Representatives from the Arizona State Police said one as-of-yet unidentified was killed and a young child was injured when a car hauler’s trailer portion allegedly disconnected from the pickup truck it was being towed by. After the trailer disconnected it crushed the truck. One person in the truck was pronounced dead at the scene, while a toddler was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Police did not specify if the toddler was a passenger in the truck, or in another vehicle that wasn’t mentioned in the initial statement on the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 17 runs north and south through the west side of Anthem, which is about 32 miles north of downtown Phoenix.

State and local law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene of the accident.
