Details:
On or about Monday, March 15th, 2021, around 8:30 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer hauling concrete and five other vehicles left one person dead and sent two others to the hospital. Troopers from the FHP said the accident happened on the southbound side of Interstate 75 near Laurel Road in Venice, Florida.
Florida Highway Patrol Troopers said one person was killed and two others were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into the back of stopped or slowing traffic, hitting five other vehicles in the chain-reaction. The driver of the tractor-trailer was pronounced dead, while two other people were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 75 runs north and south through Venice, which is about 73 miles south of Tampa.
Police are still investigating the accident.
