Details:
A 69-Year-Old Wichita man was seriously injured in a fiery head-on collision with a semi-truck on State Highway 14, just west of Hutchinson, KS. Troopers from Kansas Highway Patrol say the accident took place around 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Early reports say the Lexus drifted across the center line, crashing head-on with the semi and setting both vehicles ablaze. Rescue works were forced to extricate the driver of the Lexus quickly, as the fire then spread to the nearby field.
Firefighters from Hutchinson Fire were able to extinguish the grass fire before it could spread to the vehicles. They were also able to free the driver, who was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Both vehicles were destroyed by the fire, and investigation into the incident is ongoing.
