On Tuesday morning, December 3, 2024, the driver of semi-truck #1 was proceeding through the intersection of Pacific Highway East and Port of Tacoma Road, when the driver of semi-truck #2 attempted a right turn. The first truck was unable to avoid the second truck, and was struck, swerved, and sent crashing into the nearby abandoned hotel. Traffic in the westbound lanes was stopped, and crews spent several hours removing debris.
