Details:
On or about Wednesday, May 25th, 2022, sometime in the early morning hours, a major two-vehicle car accident left two people dead and sent a third person to the hospital. Officials from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 287 in Anderson County, Texas.
Representatives from the Texas DPS said 29-year-old Orlin Santos and his passenger were killed when the vehicle they were in allegedly crossed over the center line of Highway 287 and hit a vehicle in the oncoming lanes. Emergency responders pronounced Santos and his passenger dead a short time after the crash, while the driver of the second vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is less than a mile north of Elkhart.
Officials are still investigating.
