On or about Saturday, November 6th, 2021, around 4:16 in the morning, an accident between a cement truck and an SUV claimed the life of a 61-year-old man. Investigators from the UHP said the accident was reported along State Route 179 in Grantsville, Utah.
Representatives from the Utah Highway Patrol said 61-year-old Oscar Villegas was killed when the SUV he was in was allegedly struck by a cement truck in an intersection on State Route 179. Paramedics pronounced Villegas dead of his injuries a short time after the accident. Paramedics transported the driver of the cement truck to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries after the incident.
According to Google Maps, Grantsville is situated about 36 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.
Police are still working to pin down the cause of the accident.
