On or about Friday, December 18th, 2020, around 11:00 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian left a 71-year-old woman dead. Authorities said the accident happened in the 11000 block of South Western Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.
Deputies from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office said 71-year-old Patrica Cole was killed when she was allegedly hit by an 18-wheeler that was attempting a turn. Paramedics rushed Cole to Little Company of Mary Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival. No other injuries were reported by police.
According to Google Maps, South Western Avenue is four lanes in the area, with a shared turn lane dividing north and southbound traffic. The scene of the accident is located a short distance south of downtown Chicago.
Multiple agencies are investigating the accident.
