Details:
On or about Wednesday, February 24th, 2021, around 12:34 in the morning, a tractor-trailer rollover accident left one person dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident happened on the westbound side of Highway 84 just outside Slaton in Lubbock, Texas.
Texas DPS officials said 54-year-old Patrick Dewayne Edwards was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly swerved off the side of the road to avoid another collision. The truck rolled a short time after it departed the pavement. No other injuries were reported following the crash.
Highway 84 runs along the southern edge of Slaton, which is about 17 miles southeast of Lubbock.
State and local law enforcement are assisting the investigation.
