Details:
On or about Saturday, February 5th, 2022, around 8:54 at night, an accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 50-year-old Cave Springs man dead. Troopers from the ASP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 40 in Springdale, Arkansas.
Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said 50-year-old Paul Brungardt was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into his SUV a short time after he spun out in icy conditions. Emergency responders rushed Brungardt to Mercy Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 49 winds north and south through the center of Springdale.
Officials are still investigating the collision.
