Details:
On or about Wednesday, November 10th, 2021, around 3:00 in the afternoon, an accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer left one man dead and sent another to the hospital. Troop[Troopers from the ISP said the accident was reported along Route 67 at or near the intersection with Ingham Lane in Jersey County, Illinois.
Illinois State Police said 72-year-old John Hawkins was killed and 46-year-old Paul Hawkins was injured when the SUV they were in allegedly collided with a tractor-trailer while changing lanes on Route 67. John Hawkins was pronounced dead following the accident, while Paul Hawkins was taken to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.
According to Google Maps, Route 67 runs north and south through Jersey County, which is about 84 miles southwest of Springfield.
Police are still working to pin down the cause of the incident.
