On or about Monday, July 19th, 2021, an accident between a car and a dump truck left one man dead and sent another to the hospital. Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along Route 1 in Cumberland, Maine.

Investigators said 78-year-old Paul Soule was killed when his car and a dump truck collided under unknown conditions while driving down Route 1. Paramedics pronounced Soule dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the collision. Authorities identified 54-year-old Trevor Lamoreau as the driver of the dump truck, who was treated for unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.

According to Google Maps, Route 1 runs north and south along the southern edge of Cumberland, which is situated about 11 miles north of downtown Portland.

State and local law enforcement agencies responded to the scene to aid in the investigation and cleanup.
