Details:

On or about Friday, February 18th, 2022, around 6:45 in the evening, an accident between a pickup truck, two heavy-duty pickup trucks, and a tractor-trailer left one person dead and sent two other people to the hospital. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Farm-to-Market 1788 in Andrews County, Texas.

Law enforcement spokespeople said 22-year-old Peyton Michael Lewis was killed while 59-year-old Lonnie Michael Lewis and 39-year-old Pedro Sawatsky Weibe were injured when the pickup truck Peyton was driving allegedly veered over the center line of FM 1788 and collided with a tractor-trailer in the oncoming lanes. After the initial collision, the tractor-trailer veered off the roadway and hit a nearby heavy-duty pickup truck, while another nearby truck rolled in a ditch to avoid the collision. Emergency responders pronounced Peyton Michael Lewis dead of his injuries at the scene, while Lonnie Michael Lewis and Weibe were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 22 miles south of Andrews, which is roughly 112 miles south of Lubbock.

Officials are still investigating the accident.
