On or about Sunday, November 7th, 2021, a major accident between an SUV and two tractor-trailers claimed the life of a 20-year-old Gainesville man. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 just outside Roscoe, Texas.

Texas DPS Officials said 20-year-old Phillip W. Halterman was killed when the SUV he was driving was allegedly struck from behind by a tractor-trailer driven by Chanok Sadsomboon, which pushed the SUV into the rear of an 18-wheeler driven by Exiquio Soto-Guerra. Paramedics pronounced Halterman dead a short time after the accidnet. Sadsomboon and Soto-Guerra were unhurt in the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 2 miles west of Roscoe, which is about 114 miles southeast of Lubbock.

State and local law enforcement agencies assisted at the crash scene.
