On or about Saturday, September 18th, 2021, an accident between a police patrol vehicle and a box truck sent a police officer to the hospital. Authorities from the area said the accident was reported at the intersection of Memorial Drive and 16th Street in Racine, Washington.

Law enforcement representatives said one as-of-yet unidentified police officer was injured when a box truck allegedly struck a police car and fled the scene of the accident. Emergency responders transported the police officer to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Authorities tracked down the driver of the box truck, identified as Jaheel A. Spencer, who has since been charged with a felony count of hit and run causing injury and a misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated causing injury, 1st offense.

According to Google Maps, the intersection of Memorial Drive and 16th Street is on the south side of Racine.

Police are still investigating.
