On or about Sunday, August 8th, 2021, around 1:30 in the afternoon, an accident between a police patrol vehicle, a car, and a tractor-trailer sent a police officer to the hospital. Deputies from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 69 in Richmond, Texas.

Authorities said an as-of-yet unidentified police officer was injured when his patrol SUV was allegedly struck by a car while conducting a traffic stop. After the initial collision, the patrol SUV was spun into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer. Paramedics transported the officer to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries after the accident. Officials did not mention any other injuries stemming from the crash in their initial statement.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 69 runs north and south along the southern edge of Richmond, which is about 30 miles southeast of downtown Houston.

Multiple agencies are investigating the accident.
