On or about Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, around 12:39 in the afternoon, a head-on collision between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of an 80-year-old Lambertville woman. Deputies from the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along State Highway 31 in East Amwell, New Jersey.

Troopers from the New Jersey State Police said 80-year-old Qaneta Zaafar was killed when the car she was driving was allegedly struck head-on by a tractor-trailer that had crossed over the center line of State Highway 31 and into the path of Zaafar’s vehicle. Emergency responders pronounced Zaafar dead of her injuries, but officials did not indicate if she died at the scene, or if she was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival.

According to Google Maps, East Amwell is about 49 miles southwest of Newark.

Police are still investigating the accident.
