On or about Sunday, May 8th, 2022, around 11:23 at night, a serious hit-and-run car accident with a pedestrian left a 69-year-old man dead. Authorities from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Mile 4 1/2 West Road in Weslaco, Texas.
Officers from the Weslaco Police Department said 69-year-old Ramon Arriaga was killed when he was allegedly hit by a vehicle as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the street on Mile 4 1/2 West Road. After the initial collision with Arriaga, the vehicle fled the scene of the incident. Emergency responders pronounced Arriaga dead of his injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of of the accident is a short distance from the intersection with Mile 11 North Road.
Police are still trying to track down the driver and vehicle that fled the scene.
