Details:
On or about Tuesday, August 17th, 2021, around 3:45 in the afternoon, an accident between a pedestrian and a dump truck left one individual dead. Officials said the accident occurred along Highway 231 just outside Pell City, in St. Clair County, Alabama.
Police from the area said 59-year-old Ray Highsmith Jr. was killed when he was allegedly struck by a dump truck as he was walking along or attempting to cross the lanes of Highway 231. Paramedics pronounced Highsmith dead from his injuries at the scene of the accident. Officials did not mention any other injuries in connection with the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short ditance outside Pell City, which is about 34 miles east of downtown Birmingham.
Police are investigating the accident at this time.
