On or about Monday, March 28th, 2022, sometime in the morning hours, an accident between a tractor-trailer and another vehicle left one man dead and sent another to the hospital. Authorities from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 349 in Upton County, Texas.
Investigators from the Texas Department of Public Safety said 60-year-old Ray Vanderslice was killed when the vehicle he was driving collided with a tractor-trailer that had stopped while turning. Vanderslice was pronounced dead a short time after the accident, while the driver of the tractor-trailer, identified by police as Eliseo Campos, was treated for unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about eight miles north of Rankin.
Authorities are still investigating the accident.
