On or about Thursday, March 14th, 2021, an accident between a garbage truck and an SUV left a 56-year-old woman dead. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened along Highway 79 near the intersection with Daughenbaugh Road just outside Hermosa, South Dakota.
Officials from the South Dakota Highway Patrol said 56-year-old Rebecca Conca was killed when a garbage truck allegedly struck her car while turning onto Daughenbaugh Road from Highway 79. Paramedics pronounced Conca dead of her injuries at the scene. Police identified the driver of the garbage truck as Jeremy Larson, who was uninjured in the accident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 79 runs north and south along the western edge of Hermosa, which is about 18 miles south of Rapid City.
Multiple agencies are investigating the crash.
