Refugia Barrera was killed and Gilberto Rosales Jr. seriously injured in a single vehicle collision on State Highway 359 near State Highway 44, in Alice, TX. Texas Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2025. The 2021 Chevy Silverado being driven by Rosales crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and went off the road, colliding with a utility pole. Barrera would later die from her injures, and Rosales was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.
