On or about Tuesday, July 20th, 2021, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 42-year-old Michigan man. Troopers from the ISP said the accident occurred along Interstate 69 near the exchange with State Road 13 in Madison County, Indiana.

Deputies from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said 42-year-old Riyadh B. Al-Obaidi was killed when he was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer after he exited an 18-wheeler on the side of the roadway. Paramedics rushed Al-Obaidi to nearby IU Methodist Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Police did not mention any other vehicles stemming from the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 69 runs north and south through the south side of Madison County, which is about 46 miles northeast of downtown Indianapolis.

State and local law enforcement assisted at the scene.
