Details:
On or about Wednesday, December 30th, 2020, an accident between an 18-wheeler and a pedestrian left a 49-year-old Maurepas man dead. Law enforcement representatives said the accident happened on the northbound side of Interstate 55 in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.
State Troopers said 49-year-old Robert Mayeaux was killed when he was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer as he was walking in or near the northbound lanes of traffic. Paramedics rushed Mayeaux to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries a short time after his arrival. Officials said the driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured in the accident.
Looking at Google Maps, Interstate 55 runs north and south through the center of Tangipahoa Parish, which is located about 60 miles east of Baton Rouge.
Louisiana State Police is assisting local law enforcement with the accident investigation.
