Details:
On or about Monday, October 12th, 2020, around 3:10 in the afternoon, a single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident left a 59-year-old man dead. The accident took place on Q Road near the intersection with 170 Road in Jewell County, just outside Mankato, Kansas.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said that 59-year-old Robert Newell was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving allegedly veered off the side of Q Road and rolled into a ditch a short distance off the pavement. First responders pronounced Newell dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. No other injuries were reported.
Google Maps places Q Road in a rural area just southeast of Smith Center, which is about 200 miles northwest of Topeka.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are still examining the cause of the accident.
