On or about Thursday, December 16th, 2021, around 7:43 at night, a major two vehicle accident left one man dead and sent two others to the hospital. Officers from the LPD said the accident was reported at the intersection of Avenue A and 50th Street in Lubbock, Texas.

Law enforcement spokespeople said 40-year-old Ronald Lewis was killed while 38-year-old Kathy Thompson and Juan Castillo were injured when Castillo’s vehicle allegedly attempted to turn at the intersection of Avenue A and 50th Street. Paramedics pronounced Lewis dead a short time after the collision, while Thompson and Castillo were taken to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature ort severity.

According to Google Maps, the intersection of 50th Street and Avenue A is on the south side of Lubbock.

Police are still looking into the incident.
