Details:
On or about Thursday, December 9th, 2021, around 7:43 in the evening, a serious two-vehicle accident left one man dead and sent two individuals to the hospital. Local law enforcement representatives said the accident was reported at the intersection of Avenue A and 50th Street in Lubbock, Texas.
Officers from the Lubbock Police Department said 40-year-old Ronald Lewis was killed, while 38-year-old Kathy Thompson was injured when the car they were in was allegedly struck by an SUV that was turning at the intersection of 50th Street and Avenue A. Paramedics pronounced Lewis dead after the accident, while Thompson was transported by EMS to University Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries. Police identified the driver of the SUV as Juan Castillo, who sustained minor injuries and was also taken to UMC for treatment.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Avenue A and 50th Street is on the south side of Lubbock.
Police are still investigating the accident.
