Details:
On or about Sunday, March 20th, 2022, around 2:00 in the morning, an accident between an alleged drunk driver and a police patrol vehicle sent an officer to the hospital. Officials from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 59 in Sugar Land, Texas.
Authorities from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department said Officer Ruben Munoz was injured when a vehicle driven by an alleged drunk driver slammed into his police patrol vehicle as he was stopped and tending to the scene of a previous accident. Munoz was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries stemming from the accident.
Police have since identified the driver of the other vehicle as Julian Requena, who currently faces two counts of intoxication assault in connection with the accident.
Officials are still examining the factors surrounding the accident.
