On or about Thursday, October 28th, 2021, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a cyclist left a 41-year-old man from Independence dead. Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Route 19 in Wellsville, New York.
Investigators said 41-year-old Ryan Billings was killed when he was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer as he was riding his bike on or near Route 19. Emergency responders pronounced Billings dead after the accident, but it is not immediately clear if he died at the scene or after he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival.
According to Google Maps, Route 19 runs north and south through Wellsville, which is about 93 miles south of Rochester.
Police are still investigating the incident.
