Details:
On or about Tuesday, March 8th, 2022, around 7:00 in the morning, a major single-vehicle tractor-trailer accident sent two individuals to the hospital. Troopers from the ISP said the accident was reported along Interstate 57 in Champaign County, Illinois.
Representatives from the Illinois State Police said 31-year-old Ryan Pointer and 51-year-old Michael Schaffer were injured when the tractor-trailer they were in allegedly drove off the side of Interstate 57 and crashed when the truck may have suffered a tire blowout. Paramedics transported the Pointer, who was driving, and Schaffer, who was a passenger, to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries after the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 57 runs north and south through Champaign County, with the scene of the accident not far from Tolano.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene to assist.
