Details:
On or about Tuesday, October 27th, 2020, around 7:15 in the morning, an accident between two tractor-trailers left one person dead and two others injured. Texas DPS said the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 59 in Rusk County, Texas.
Officers said that 40-year-old Jessie Cashion and 48-year-old Robert Cain were injured when the tractor-trailer they were in was allegedly struck from behind by another semi while turning into a driveway. The driver of the second tractor-trailer was identified as 65-year-old Salvador Oliva, who was pronounced dead after the crash.
Paramedics transported Cashion and Allen to a hospital in Nacogdoches where they were last reported in stable condition.
According to Google Maps, Highway 59 is four lanes, with a shared turn lane dividing north and southbound traffic. Highway 59 cuts through the center of Garrison, which is located about 167 miles southeast of Dallas.
Texas Department of Public Safety is aiding local officials with the investigation.
