Details:
On or about Sunday, March 13th, 2022, around 3:30 in the morning, a serious accident with an alleged drunk driver left a 30-year-old woman dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported at or near the intersection of 34th Street and Quaker Avenue in Lubbock, Texas.
Officers from the Lubbock Police Department said 30-year-old Samantha Martinez was killed when the vehicle she was driving was allegedly struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Elisa Beonoga while driving down 34th Street. Emergency responders pronounced Martinez dead of her injuries a short time after the collision. Paramedics transported Benoga to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the crash.
Authorities have since charged Elisa Benoga with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the accident.
Police are still investigating the collision.
