On or about Saturday, July 3rd, 2021, around 1:52 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman. Troopers from the State Police said the accident was reported along Highway 83 just outside Wilton, North Dakota.
Police said 35-year-old Sandra Finley was killed when she was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer as she was walking along or trying to cross the lanes of Highway 83. Emergency responders rushed Finley to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival. Police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Neil Janz, who was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 83 runs north and south along the western edge of Wilton, which is about 25 miles north of Bismarck.
Police are still working to pin down the cause of the accident.
